A G-Wagon photo is a starting point. Your model year, trim and roof configuration determine how closely that example matches the installation being planned.
What will my G-Wagon look like with stars?
Look for a cabin view that shows the ceiling from a normal seated position. An extreme close-up can show bright points without showing how the pattern feels across the roof. A useful comparison includes the front seating area, rear seating area and the roof opening.
The G-Class project pictured here includes preparation photos and a finished star field. The photographs establish the work shown, not an exact star count, material brand or model year. Those details should come from the build record rather than appearance alone.
If you do not see your version in the public gallery, ask. We may have another installation photo that better matches your vehicle. Send the year, model, trim and a roof photo so we can look for a genuinely comparable example.

Planning a 2024 or 2025 G-Class build
For a 2024 or 2025 G-Class build, include the full model designation, such as G 550 or AMG G 63, rather than sending only “G-Wagon.” Also mention any previous interior customization.
A model badge does not describe every detail behind the headliner. Confirm the roof opening, existing material, overhead fittings and controls on your own vehicle. Two visually similar cabins should not be assumed to need identical removal, routing or equipment placement.
For a photo comparison, prioritize the roof configuration and visible surface first. A matching exterior color is less useful than a matching interior layout. A reference should help explain those differences rather than hide them.
Use the available roof area well
The roof opening and overhead fittings divide the surface available for stars. The layout should make sense across the fixed upholstered areas instead of treating the headliner as one uninterrupted rectangle.
Ask which surfaces are included. Fixed trim around an opening is different from a moving shade or glass. A photo with the shade closed can hide those distinctions. Photos with it open and closed help explain the intended coverage.
Star count is only one design input. Placement, brightness and the size of the illuminated area affect the impression of density. Ask to compare a restrained pattern with a fuller pattern in a similar cabin before deciding on a number.
Choose the upholstery before the star pattern
If you want a darker ceiling or a different texture, plan that alongside the fiber installation. The condition of the existing material and backing matters even when the night photo is the main inspiration.
Oddie’s Customs recommends black suede for a budget-conscious material change and Alcantara as our preferred premium option. Compare actual samples and confirm which adjacent pieces are included. Headliner-only work and a coordinated headliner, pillar and visor project are different scopes.
Do not assume the material in an example photograph is Alcantara. A photo can communicate a color and general texture, but material identity needs to be confirmed.
Specify the effects and the controls
A static star field, twinkle and shooting-star sequences are different capabilities. If movement is part of the design, discuss it before the fiber layout and equipment are selected. Ask to see the desired effect in a video rather than inferring it from a still image.
Agree how the system is operated, dimmed and switched off. Do not assume the vehicle’s factory screen will control an aftermarket headliner. If ambient lighting is part of the same project, confirm which systems can coordinate and which use separate controls.
What should a G-Wagon quote include?
A useful quote describes the installation rather than only the number of stars. It should identify the vehicle, upholstery work, included surfaces, lighting effects, controls and the expected downtime. Existing material problems or previous modifications can change the scope.
At collection, look at the finished headliner in daylight and with the stars on. Review the controls and the roof functions affected by the work. Ask about the finish around trim openings and the care instructions for the actual material.
Our tissue test is a surface-finish check for snagging fiber tips. It is one part of assessing the result, not a substitute for checking mounting, wiring, trim fit and original vehicle functions.
Common questions
01Do you have a photo of my exact G-Wagon with stars?+
We may have a comparable build that is not in the public gallery. Send your year, model, trim and roof type so we can check the available archive. An exact match is not guaranteed.
02Can you assess both a G 550 and an AMG G 63?+
Send the exact version for assessment. The roof configuration, existing material and planned work matter; a badge alone is not a complete compatibility check.
03Can I keep using my sunroof?+
Retaining the original roof functions needs to be part of the installation plan. Confirm the illuminated surfaces and clearances for your exact roof rather than assuming a moving shade is included.
04How much is a G-Wagon starlight headliner?+
Request a quote for your vehicle and chosen scope. Material replacement, surface area, pattern, effects and installation requirements affect the work. Send your vehicle details so we can assess the scope.
Show us what you have in mind.
Send your year, model and roof type, plus the look you want. Looking for a matching installation photo? We may have an example beyond the public gallery.
